I first fell in love with Spain in 2006, and I’m back!

I’m currently working as an English teaching assistant in Villarrasa, Spain, near Seville, and it’s been fantastic so far! You may have noticed yesterday that Twitter was swept up in a Nigel Thornberry frenzy. Curious as to why this character from The Wild Thornberrys was such a sudden hit, I researched the topic and found that he had become the subject of a number of musical remixes inspired by the first one created by 17-year-old Sam Antonioli. Fascinated by the phenomenon of Internet memes, I immediately contacted Sam for an interview for Supercool Creative. His responses were great, and I talked a bit about what memes mean for marketers. What ICANN’s Commercial Domain Suffixes Mean for Online Marketing

ICANN announced Monday the creation of new business-based domain suffixes (imagine going to coke.coke instead of coke.com), and the Internet went crazy with this news. Apparently my musical tastes have been influenced by crazy Euro pop, because I can’t stop rocking out to “Hello” by French DJ Martin Solveig featuring Canadian electropop group Dragonette. I dare you to not dance.

I had a great idea to start doing Music Mondays where I recommend awesome music to my awesome readers, but, hey, look at the time, it’s already 30 minutes into Thursday, so welcome to my first Music Mursday.

I’m kind of super obsessed with Spanish music and am always hoping to discover new Spanish artists, which is why I’m super psyched to have discovered Maldita Nerea tonight. I’m particularly digging their song “El Secreto de las Tortugas.” Check it out, yo. So good.

When I first tried tortilla española, or, as it’s sometimes called, tortilla de patatas or just tortilla, while studying in Spain in 2006, it immediately became my favorite food. And I only fell for it harder during my 2009-2010 school year spent there.

I can no longer walk a few blocks to the supermarket Día to buy a pre-made tortilla, and authentic Spanish restaurants are rare in L.A. The boldest and most complicated I ever get when it comes to cooking is throwing some chicken and broccoli into spaghetti, but I’ve been severely missing tortilla, so I decided to push my boundaries by attempting this recipe. I had tried a different recipe a few years ago and it was a total failure (it fell apart and tasted too much like eggs), but this time was a success!

Next time, I’ll use more salt and/or onions, but it turned out quite beautiful and pretty delicious. It even got a seal of approval from a friend who’s had the real thing in Spain. Successful day? Most definitely. Now that I’m inspired, I think my next foray into cooking will be chocolate Nutella fudge. Mmm.

Not only am I Supercool Creative‘s Social Media Specialist, but the supercool Supercool has also made me a star. A staaahhhh. Check out the first few seconds of the video below.

We at Supercool Creative recently worked with Zeno Group, T-Mobile, and Khloe Kardashian to promote T-Mobile’s Valentine’s Day promotion, in which all phones (even spiffy smart phones like Androids) are freeeee! If there’s anything more exciting than my newfound stardom, it’s free phones.

I can’t decide where to devote my efforts next: obtaining a SAG card? Campaigning for an Academy Award? Parlaying my fame into a music career? Fake-dating a hot celebrity as a PR stunt?

Don’t worry, I won’t forget about the little people. But just in case I do, you’d better ask for my autograph now before I blow up completely.
